    Which school building will my child attend?

    Elementary School -- PreK-3rd

    Middle School -- 4th, 5th & 6th

    How do I know if my kindergartner is ready for school? 

    If the student is born on or before September 15th of the current year they are eligible to begin kindergarten.  Knowing your child is ready for school is a decision that parents need to make concerning their child.

    Does the district offer preschool?

    Winterset Community Schools offer 3 and 4 year old preschool programs serving the district's children.  For more information, please see the Preschool web page.

    Is there transportation provided by the district?

    Transportation is provided to all students who live in the country.  Students in kindergarten through 3rd grade are allowed to ride buses from any in-town stop, if you live more than 5 blocks from school.  4th - 12th grade students are allowed to ride a bus in the AM from the elementay school to their building of attendance.  All students in grades 4th - 8th and country riders in grades 9th - 12th, are allowed to ride a PM shuttle from their building of attendance to the elementary to walk home or catch their bus to the country.
