Food Service Accounts
Per Board Policy 802.10, each students may not charge more than $10.00 on their lunch accounts. When an account exceeds the $10.00 negative balance students will be provided with a very basic sack lunch, such as a cheese sandwich, milk and fruit. The school district has the fiduciary responsibility to seek payment of outstanding unpaid bills and will work with parents to ensure these are taken care of without denying students basic services. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact Winterset’s Food Service Coordinator, Joanna Gustafson at 462-4271.

Money is placed in a family account and electronically deducted for each lunch, breakfast or a la carte item purchased. The computer automatically knows the status of students eligible for free/reduced meals and charges the account accordingly. If there is no money in the account and the student is not eligible for free meals, the purchase is charged and the student must pay off the negative balance the next day.
