🚀 Winterset Junior High’s 7th graders had an amazing day exploring the Des Moines Area Community College Ankeny Campus! They dove into hands-on sessions in Automotive, Computer Information Science, Criminal Justice, Bio-Technology, Wind/Solar Energy Technicians, and Robotics. Plus, they got to shoot some hoops in the DMACC wellness facility! 🏀
🐾 Welcome Kathleen to our school family! 🐾
We’re thrilled to introduce Kathleen, a wonderful black lab who joins us as a Facility Dog alongside our School Resource Officer, Officer Garrison. Kathleen plays a special role in supporting student wellness and engagement, helping create a positive and comforting environment for everyone.
She’s already been a huge hit with both students and staff, bringing smiles and calm moments throughout the day. Kathleen also assists with community outreach and helps promote officer wellness, making her an invaluable part of our school community.

Who remembers those intense kickball games that defined Junior High PE? Bragging rights were always on the line! 😄 Well, last Friday in 8th Grade PE, period 3, we experienced a game for the ages!
Congratulations to the winning team—Brooklyn Tadlock, Mckenzie Brown, Macy Landers, Kayla Roberts, Blakely Rethmeier, Lucie St. John, and Brooklyn Roberts—who brought the energy and secured a victory with a score of 14-10! 🎉⚽️

🎉 Celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week at Winterset Junior High! 🌟
In honor of our incredible teachers, Mr. Sussman, along with Dr. Corey St. John and Kendra Alexander, organized a delightful pancake and sausage breakfast, along with a car wash for our staff! 🚗
We know how busy teachers are, and it can be tough to find time to get a car wash. We hope they enjoyed this special treat and felt the appreciation from our community!

🌟 Celebrating Winterset Junior High's Help Day at Pammel Park! 🌳💪
Today, our amazing 7th and 8th graders did an outstanding job! They worked hard removing tree limbs, cleaning fire pits, picking up trash, and raking leaves—all while enjoying time outside with each other! 🌞✨
Engaging in community service is a vital part of the culture at WJH, and our students truly showcased their commitment to making a difference.

Last Thursday, our talented students were one of just 15 schools to march in the 90th annual Tulip Time Parade in Pella! 🥳✨ The kids had an absolute blast participating in one of Iowa's most beloved events, showcasing their skills while performing Mr. Lichty's fantastic arrangements of "September," "School's Out," and "Crazy in Love." 🎺🎉
They performed wonderfully and represented Winterset exceptionally well! 👏 A huge congratulations to our Junior High Band for this memorable achievement!

Members of Mr. Heithoff's 7th grade Social Studies class presented their winning Thinglink Project to the City Council. 🎉✨ These talented students used the Thinglink platform to create an informative hub for new members of the Winterset/Madison County Community. 🏡💡

Did you know that Winterset Junior High is home to one of the BEST junior high bands in the state? 🎉 Today, our amazing WJH Band received a I+ rating at the Large Group Contest in Knoxville—the HIGHEST rating a band can achieve at this contest! 🏆👏

Winterset Junior High's Spring Dance: Neon Edition Was a Blast! 🎉
What an electrifying night at our Spring Dance themed Neon! 🌟 Tons of students showed up and had a fantastic time dancing the night away, playing dodgeball, enjoying musical chairs, and even getting in a little knockout action! 🎶💃
A huge shoutout to Ms. Criswell and the WJH Student Council for organizing and executing such an amazing event! 🙌 And let’s give it up for Mr. Bradley, who kept the tunes pumping as our fabulous DJ! 🎧🎵
