Dallas Center-Grimes Jazz Festival results
🏆Big congrats to the Junior High Jazz Band for finishing 1st place in the JH/MS class this past weekend at the Dallas Center-Grimes Jazz Festival! 🎶 There were seven bands that competed that day in their class. Even more impressive was the fact that every single soloist received an Outstanding Soloist certificate (Resmay L, McKenzie B, Marcus O, Lauren H, Lydia B, Gigi G, Reese K, Korbyn S, Creighton M, Charlie B, Graham B, and Adley G). Congrats, jazz band!👏

🏆Last night was electric! Our girls wrestling team hosted a meet with 7 schools and fought hard — as a team they scored 22−7. 🤼♀️ What a performance!

🚨🌪️Yesterday our 8th‑grade Humanities students heard powerful first‑hand accounts about living through natural disasters. Thank you, Debbie Taylor and Wendy Burkett, for taking the time to share your experiences and insights. Your stories will help students as they begin a unit project exploring the wide‑ranging impacts of natural disasters and the local, state, and national responses. 👏

If you have an urgent concern during the closure, please send an email to the office and we will respond after we return. We are grateful for your partnership and wish our students and families a safe, restorative holiday season!

✨State FFA President Chloe Zittergruen and State FFA South Central Vice President Kelsey Greenslade spent the day with the Winterset FFA chapter on a chapter visit day. Students spent the day yesterday learning about teamwork and communication skills. They completed a variety of challenges throughout the day. Students had a great day learning with leaders in the agriculture industry.

What an incredible evening — the Junior High Band & Choir Winter Concert showcased our students’ amazing talent and musicianship! Huge thanks to Mr. Barrett and Mr. Lichty for leading such powerful performances. Special shoutout to 2014 WHS grad Clayton Ryan for his guest appearance with the Junior High Band — a memorable finish to a fantastic night!
What a heartwarming day! Ms. McNamara's students spent the morning baking homemade sugar cookies and personally delivering them to staff — spreading joy, confidence, and lots of smiles 🍪💛 Seeing their pride and the staff’s appreciation made everyone’s day.
